About This Destination

A large entertainment complex combining a drive-through safari park with African wildlife and an amusement park with roller coasters and seasonal pools.
Himeji Central Park is a sprawling entertainment complex in the hills north of Himeji, combining a safari park with an amusement park. The safari zone allows visitors to drive their own cars (or take a safari bus) through enclosures housing lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and other African animals roaming in naturalistic habitats. A walking safari area lets guests get closer to smaller animals and includes a petting zoo. The adjacent amusement park features over 35 attractions including roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, and various thrill rides suitable for all ages. In summer, a large pool complex with water slides opens, and in winter the park transforms with ice skating and illumination events. The park is popular with families and can easily fill a full day. While primarily Japanese-oriented, the safari experience transcends language barriers. Access is easiest by car, though buses run from Himeji Station.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Himeji Central Park?

Driving is strongly recommended so you can do the drive-through safari in your own car — it's about 25 minutes north of Himeji Station via Route 372, and the parking lot costs 1,000 yen. Without a car, take the direct Shinki Bus from Himeji Station (about 30 minutes); the safari can then be experienced from a special park bus instead.

When is the best time to visit Himeji Central Park?

Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) have the most pleasant weather for both safari driving and rides. The seasonal pool runs in summer; the ice rink runs in winter, so each season has its own draw. Weekdays are far less crowded than weekends, and arriving at opening (usually 9:30 or 10 AM) gives the safari animals their most active period.

What's the entry fee for Himeji Central Park?

Adult admission is 3,600 yen, which includes both the safari and the amusement park (rides require additional ride tickets or a separate ride pass). Children's tickets are around 2,000 yen. Parking is 1,000 yen per car. The seasonal pool and ice rink charge separate seasonal fees on top of the base ticket.

Where can I eat at Himeji Central Park?

Multiple restaurants and food stalls inside the park serve curry, ramen, Japanese fast food, snacks, and ice cream. A seasonal BBQ area is available in spring and autumn. Bringing your own picnic is also allowed in designated lawn areas, which is a common choice for families.
