Meiji Mura is an open-air museum in Inuyama that relocates and preserves buildings from the Meiji era (1868-1912). The grounds hold more than 60 structures, including eleven designated Important Cultural Properties, ranging from churches and schools to a bank and part of the original Imperial Hotel lobby designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Visitors can ride a working steam locomotive and a Kyoto streetcar within the grounds, and costume rental in Meiji-period dress is available. The site sits beside Lake Iruka and covers a large hillside area that takes several hours to walk. It is reached by bus from Inuyama Station.
