About This Destination

A 300-meter skyscraper featuring the Harukas 300 observation deck, a department store, art museum, and diverse dining options across its 60 floors.
Abeno Harukas dominated Osaka's skyline as Japan's tallest building from its completion in 2014 until 2023, its 300 meters of glass and steel rising above the Tennoji district. The Harukas 300 observation deck occupies the top three floors, offering panoramic views that on clear days extend from Osaka Bay across to the mountains of Nara. The building functions as a vertical city. Lower floors house a major Kintetsu department store, while an art museum hosts rotating exhibitions that range from classical Japanese art to contemporary international shows. Multiple restaurant floors span the spectrum from casual Osaka street food like takoyaki to refined French cuisine. Connected directly to Tennoji Station, one of Osaka's major transit hubs, Abeno Harukas serves as a natural starting point for exploring the Tennoji area and the retro entertainment district of Shinsekai just to the north.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Abeno Harukas?

Directly connected to Tennoji Station — Japan's biggest underground rail hub for southern Osaka. From JR Tennoji (JR Loop Line, Hanwa Line, Yamatoji Line), Osaka Metro Tennoji (Midosuji and Tanimachi Lines), Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi, and the Hankai Tram, signs direct you to elevators inside the building. From Umeda 18 minutes (¥240) on the Midosuji subway. From Kansai Airport: 35 minutes via JR Hanwa Line.

What's the entry fee for the observation deck?

Adult ¥2,000, junior high/high school ¥1,200, elementary ¥700, age 4+ ¥500. Open 9:00–22:00 daily (last entry 21:30). The Sky Garden on the 58th floor is free with the ticket and offers an open-air courtyard view. The Edge the Harukas (a glass-floored corridor on the 60th floor) and an outdoor walking deck experience cost an extra ¥1,000. Buy tickets at 16F counter or via the official website (digital tickets accepted).

What can I see from the top?

On clear days: Osaka Bay (west), Awaji Island, Mount Rokko (Kobe direction), Mount Kongo, the Yamato Plain to Nara, and even Mount Ikoma. At night, the entire Kansai metropolitan area glitters as one continuous sea of lights — among Japan's best urban night views. Photography is allowed; tripods are not. The 360° glass walls have minimal glare for photos. Sunset arrival followed by night views (stay 60–90 minutes) gives the best ratio of price-to-experience.

Can I avoid the entry fee but still get good views?

Yes — the 16th floor lobby has free panoramic windows. Several restaurants on the 12–14th and 19th floors include their own city views with a meal (lunch sets ¥1,500–3,000). The Marriott Hotel lobby on the 38th floor allows brief visits if you're polite, and the Sky Garden 300 restaurant on 58F includes the observation deck access in a lunch course (¥6,000+). For free roof access elsewhere in Osaka: try Umeda Sky Building's Floating Garden (¥1,500 but cheaper), or the free Osaka Prefectural Government Office observation deck.
