About This Destination

World's tallest tower at 634 meters. Two observation decks. Fuji visible on clear days. Big mall underneath if the weather doesn't cooperate.
At 634 meters, it's the tallest tower in the world (second tallest structure after Burj Khalifa). Completed 2012. It's a TV broadcast tower first—the tourist stuff came after. Two decks. Tembo Deck at 350m has floor-to-ceiling windows and the main views. Tembo Galleria at 450m is a glass corridor spiraling around the tower—more vertiginous, slightly better photos. Clear days show Fuji; hazy days show smog. Check the weather before paying 2100+ yen. Tokyo Solamachi at the base has 300+ shops, restaurants, and an aquarium—plan B for clouds. The curved shape references Japanese sword blades (according to the architects). Night lighting alternates between pale blue (iki) and purple (miyabi).
