Omicho Market

Omicho Market is a covered market in central Kanazawa that has served as the city's main food market for about 300 years. Around 170 shops line its narrow arcades, selling fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan along with vegetables, fruit, meat, pickles and other groceries. Several stalls and restaurants serve prepared dishes such as seafood rice bowls (kaisendon) and grilled shellfish, making it a popular place to eat on the spot. Most shops open from around 9:00 to 16:00, though some restaurants stay open later. It is about a 12-minute walk from Kanazawa Station, or a short bus ride to the Musashigatsuji / Omicho Market stop.
