About This Destination

A 1.6-kilometer shopping and entertainment street that is the heart of Naha's tourism scene.
Kokusai-dori (International Street) is a 1.6-kilometer main street running through the heart of Naha. Once called the Miracle Mile for its rapid postwar reconstruction, it is now Okinawa's most popular tourist area, packed with souvenir shops, restaurants, boutiques, and entertainment venues. The street comes alive at night with live music from restaurants and bars. Side streets lead to the covered Makishi Public Market, where visitors can buy fresh seafood on the first floor and have it prepared at restaurants on the second floor. On Sundays, a section of the street becomes a pedestrian transit mall with street performances. The street is easily accessible from Kencho-mae or Makishi stations on the Okinawa Monorail.
