About This Destination
A small island near Kamakura with shrines, sea caves, panoramic views, and a lively seaside atmosphere.
Enoshima is a small, hilly island connected to the mainland by a bridge, offering a perfect day trip from Tokyo or Yokohama. The island is home to Enoshima Shrine, dedicated to the goddess Benzaiten, and features botanical gardens, an observation lighthouse called the Sea Candle, and the atmospheric Iwaya sea caves. On clear days, Mt. Fuji is visible across Sagami Bay. The approach road is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants serving fresh shirasu whitebait, a local specialty.
