About This Destination

A spectacular 15-kilometer stretch of coastline within the San'in Kaigan Geopark, featuring sea caves, rock arches, and crystal-clear waters explored by glass-bottom boat tours and sea kayaking.
The Uradome Coast stretches approximately 15 kilometers along the Sea of Japan in eastern Tottori Prefecture and is part of the UNESCO-recognized San'in Kaigan Geopark. The coastline features an extraordinary collection of geological formations including sea caves, naturally carved rock arches, towering sea stacks, and small uninhabited islands, all shaped by the powerful waves of the Japan Sea over millions of years. Glass-bottom pleasure boats operate from Uradome Beach between March and November, offering intimate views of the rock formations, the remarkably transparent water, and the marine life below. Sea kayaking tours are also available for those who want to explore the sea caves up close, paddling through narrow passages between the cliffs. Uradome Beach itself has pristine white sand and is designated as one of Japan's top 100 beaches, making it popular for swimming in summer. The coast is also an excellent spot for snorkeling thanks to water clarity that can reach 25 meters on calm days.
