Tokyo Dome City
About This Destination
Tokyo Dome City is the leisure district wrapped around Tokyo Dome, home ground of the Yomiuri Giants, and it works as a drop-in amusement park in the middle of the city. There is no entrance fee. You pay per ride, from 600 yen for Power Tower to 1,800 yen for Thunder Dolphin, or buy a one-day passport at 4,900, 5,300 or 5,800 yen for adults depending on the date; after 17:00 a night passport starts at 3,900 yen. Thunder Dolphin is what most people come for, a two-minute coaster that runs through the LaQua building and the hubless Big-O wheel. Riders must be at least 130 cm tall and aged 8 to 64, and it does not run in rain. Spa LaQua, a natural hot-spring spa in the LaQua building, is open from 11:00 to 9:00 the next morning, adults pay from 3,500 yen, and children under 6 are not admitted. For something quieter afterwards, the Edo-period garden Koishikawa Korakuen is a short walk west.
