Michi-no-Eki Shodoshima Olive Park
About This Destination
Michi-no-Eki Shodoshima Olive Park sits on a south-facing slope in Nishimura, with olive trees running down toward the Seto Inland Sea. Shodoshima is where olive growing took root in Japan, and the white Olive Memorial Hall at the center has displays, a shop of olive and herb products and a café with a view.
The white Greek windmill is the shot most people come for. The Olive Memorial Hall lends brooms free of charge, and visitors jump in front of the windmill to look like Kiki from the live-action Kiki’s Delivery Service, which was filmed here. A set from that film now runs as a gift shop. On a busy day expect to wait your turn at the windmill.
The Sun Olive hot spring is on the same grounds and closes on Wednesdays. Since July 2026 it has run shortened hours because of limits on its fuel oil supply, and an extended pause of the outdoor bath was announced, so check its notices before planning a soak. Entry to the park is free.
