Michi-no-Eki Nagomi
About This Destination
The Yura River gives Nagomi a reason to linger beyond the usual roadside shopping stop. On Route 27 in the Wachi area of Kyotamba, the station looks out over the river and its terraces. A pause here fits a drive through northern Kyoto’s inland countryside, especially if you want a meal with a view before returning to the road.
Start with the vegetable market, where the selection follows the growing season around Wachi. The souvenir shop adds local sweets and seasonings that are easier to carry on a longer journey. Nagomi Kitchen handles meals, while the cafe and terrace suit a shorter break. Chestnut sweets are part of the operator’s selection, but individual products can sell out or be suspended.
The outdoor ayu fish garden is seasonal, so do not plan a winter lunch around it. Check the current shop and kitchen schedules separately, including last orders. Drivers approach from Route 27 near Kyotamba Wachi IC; the riverside setting does not imply access to a swimming area.
