How do I get to Katsurahama Beach?
From Kochi Station the MY Yu sightseeing bus reaches Katsurahama in about 35 minutes for around ¥700; Tosaden buses also serve the route. By car it is about 30 minutes.
What is Katsurahama Beach known for?
This crescent beach has the statue of Sakamoto Ryoma looking out at the Pacific, Ryuogu Shrine on the rocky point, and the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum on the hill (¥700). It has long been a moon-viewing spot in Japanese poetry, and there is also the Katsurahama Aquarium.
Can I swim there, and is there an entry fee?
Swimming is prohibited because of strong currents, so it is a beach for walking rather than bathing. Entering the beach is free; the memorial museum costs ¥700.
