A reconstructed hilltop castle above Kintaikyo Bridge, with views over the Nishiki River and Iwakuni.

Iwakuni Castle occupies the hill above the old castle town and Kintaikyo Bridge. The present keep is a reconstruction, while the hill preserves traces of the earlier castle. The usual visitor route combines the ropeway from the foot of the hill with a walk to the keep. Allow time for both stages and check ropeway operations before committing to the ascent.
