The Easiest Way to Travel from KIX to Kobe, Sannomiya (2026 Guide)
Traveling from Kansai International Airport to Sannomiya Station in Kobe is easy and comfortable using the Airport Limousine Bus that is operated by Hankyu. The bus goes directly from the airport to Kobe Sannomiya and the trip usually takes about 75 minutes, depending on traffic.

Traffic is the deciding factor. The bus is comfortable but shares the Hanshin Expressway with everyone else, so allow extra time in the evening peak or on a holiday weekend. The boat runs to a fixed schedule regardless.
1. Finding the bus stop
The bus stops are located conveniently just outside Terminal 1, when exiting the airport lobby you should be able to see them right away.
2. Find the Correct Stop and Line Up
Finding the correct bus stop is easy, as each stop is clearly marked with its destination. Look for the stop serving buses to Kobe Sannomiya and line up in the designated waiting area.
Before boarding, you can place your large luggage in the luggage compartment under the bus. The staff will assist you with this. You may store up to two pieces of luggage, and the staff will attach a tag to each bag and give you a matching claim tag.

The Kobe-Kansai Bay Shuttle is a high-speed boat between Kansai Airport and Kobe Airport, and it is the option most visitors never hear about. It costs ¥1,880 for adults, which includes the Port Liner train onward to Sannomiya, and the crossing itself takes about 30 minutes.
The sequence is: free shuttle bus from Kansai Airport Terminal 1 to the ferry pier, roughly 6 minutes; boat to Kobe Airport, 30 minutes; Port Liner to Sannomiya, about 18 minutes. Door to door that is around 65 minutes, and unlike the bus it is unaffected by road traffic. Buy the combined ticket at the Kansai Airport counter or at the Port Liner Sannomiya information desk.
A return ticket is ¥3,060 and is valid for 120 days, which is worth it if you are flying out of Kansai again.
