Zuiryuji is a Soto Zen temple in Takaoka founded to honour Maeda Toshinaga, the second head of the Maeda clan, and completed in the mid-17th century under the third head, Maeda Toshitsune. Its main gate (sanmon), Buddha hall (butsuden), and Dharma hall (hatto) are designated National Treasures, and several other structures are Important Cultural Properties. The buildings are arranged in a symmetrical Zen garan layout connected by roofed corridors. The Buddha hall is notable for its lead-tiled roof. The temple sits about a ten-minute walk from Takaoka Station and has a large free car park. Admission is charged for adults and students.
