關於此目的地
A flat-topped lava plateau northeast of Takamatsu offering views over the Seto Inland Sea, home to Yashima-ji temple and sites from the Genpei War.
Yashima is a flat-topped lava plateau on the northeast edge of Takamatsu, named for its resemblance to a roof. From the summit there are wide views over Takamatsu, the Seto Inland Sea, and its scattered islands. On the plateau stands Yashima-ji, the 84th temple on the Shikoku pilgrimage, founded in 754, whose main hall is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. The area was the site of the 1185 Battle of Yashima during the Genpei War, and places such as the Funagakushi inlet and the Inori-iwa (Prayer Rock) recall episodes from the conflict. The Yashima Skyway leads to the summit, where there are parking, cafes, and a viewpoint. It is reachable by driving from central Takamatsu in about 30 minutes, or by taking the Kotoden line to Yashima Station and then a bus.
