關於此目的地

The head of the Shirahige shrines, known for a red torii gate that stands in the water of Lake Biwa off the shore at Ukawa.
Shirahige Shrine is regarded as the oldest large shrine in the Omi region and is the head shrine of the Shirahige shrines found across Japan. Its deity is Sarutahiko-no-mikoto, who is worshipped for longevity, matchmaking, and safe travel. The shrine is best known for the vermilion torii gate that stands in Lake Biwa, separated from the main hall by National Route 161. The present lake torii was rebuilt in 1981, following an earlier gate donated in 1937. Crossing the highway to the lakeside is dangerous and prohibited, so visitors are asked to photograph the torii from the Ranko Shirahige observation deck by the shrine office. The shrine grounds are open to visitors and admission is free.
