About This Destination

A monumental bronze Amida Buddha with interior worship spaces and observation windows, set in grounds outside Ushiku.

Ushiku Daibutsu rises 120 metres including its base and lotus pedestal. The scale is easiest to appreciate from the approach across the grounds, before entering the statue’s interior displays and worship spaces. Observation windows are built into the chest. Visiting the grounds and entering the statue are different parts of the experience, so check the available ticket options on the official site.
