About This Destination

A hot spring resort town in Kurobe that serves as the starting point for the Kurobe Gorge Railway.
Unazuki Onsen is the largest hot spring town in Toyama Prefecture, set at the entrance to the Kurobe Gorge in the city of Kurobe. Its water is piped several kilometres from a source further up the valley and is clear and mildly alkaline. The town is the departure point for the Kurobe Gorge Railway, a narrow-gauge sightseeing line whose open-sided trolley trains run into the gorge from spring to autumn. Ryokan, public baths, and a riverside footbath line the streets, and the Toyama Chihotetsudo railway connects the town to the Hokuriku Shinkansen at Kurobe-Unazuki-Onsen Station. Unazuki Station for the gorge railway is a short walk from the town centre. There is no charge to enter the town itself.
