Tatsukushi Coast

The Tatsukushi Coast is a stretch of coastline in Misaki, Tosashimizu city, near Cape Ashizuri at the southwestern tip of Kochi Prefecture. Its sandstone rock layers have been shaped by wave and wind erosion into honeycomb textures and outcrops that carry names such as Bamboo Stone and Lantern Stone. The area lies within the Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park and includes a marine park with one of Japan's larger coral communities. Walking paths run along the shore, and glass-bottom boats reach the nearby Minokoshi Coast, which is hard to walk to overland. A visitor center provides information and refreshments. Access is by car or by bus from Nakamura Station.
