About This Destination

A coral island renowned for its pristine white sand beaches and some of the clearest ocean water in Japan.
Miyako-jima is widely considered to have the most beautiful beaches in all of Japan, with powdery white sand and incredibly transparent turquoise waters. Maehama Beach stretches for seven kilometers and is consistently ranked among Japan's top beaches. The island is connected to neighboring Irabu Island by the Irabu Bridge, one of Japan's longest toll-free bridges. Unlike much of Okinawa, Miyako-jima has no venomous habu snakes, making it good for carefree exploration. The coral reefs surrounding the island offer excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities.
