Michi-no-Eki Kasama
About This Destination
Kasama is one of Japan’s biggest chestnut growers, and the city opened this station in September 2021 to greet drivers coming off the Kita-Kanto Expressway. It works as a front door to the town: Kasama Inari Shrine and the pottery workshops of the Kasama Craft Hills are a short drive further in.
La Kuri is the counter with the queue. It sells chestnut sweets made with nuts from the city agricultural corporation’s own orchards, and its Mont Blanc is served for eating in only. The farm market sells raw chestnuts from early September until about December, with the peak in early to mid September, alongside local vegetables and Kasama ware.
The food court has several small restaurants, including ramen and kamameshi rice pots. Autumn weekends in chestnut season get busy. The station normally closes on the second Thursday of each month, but it said it would stay open every day from August to November 2026.
