Meitoya Sou is one of the Takamiya group's inns, in the centre of Zao Onsen, about 10 minutes on foot from the bus terminal, with a free shuttle. Rooms are Japanese style, some with beds, plus three special rooms, all non-smoking; check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 10:00. The rock open-air bath and the wooden indoor bath are fed straight from the source and open 24 hours, and a semi-open-air ceramic private bath costs ¥2,200 for 50 minutes. Dinner in the Takumian restaurant is a choice of jingisukan (grilled lamb) or shabu-shabu of brand pork. Guests can also bathe free at the group's other inns from 8:00 to 10:00 and from 13:00 to 20:00, except Miyamaso Takamiya.
