About This Destination
A privately owned wisteria garden in the hills of Kitakyushu, known for two long wisteria flower tunnels and a large trellis.
Kawachi Fujien is a privately owned garden in the Kawachi district of Kitakyushu that grows about 22 varieties of wisteria. Its main features are two wisteria flower tunnels, roughly 110 meters and 80 meters long, along with a large trellis of around 1,000 tsubo. The wisteria usually blooms from late April to mid-May, and the garden also opens for autumn foliage in November. Because visitor numbers are limited, date-specific advance tickets purchased online or at convenience stores are required during the wisteria and autumn seasons, and tickets are not sold at the entrance. Adult admission during the wisteria season is 1,600 yen. The garden has a free parking lot with about 200 spaces. It is reached by car, as there is no nearby railway station.
