Karuizawa Toy Kingdom
About This Destination
Karuizawa Toy Kingdom is not in Karuizawa town but over the prefectural line in Tsumagoi, Gunma, on the high ground north of Mount Asama, about an hour by bus or car from Karuizawa Station. It is made for children under about ten. The core is a set of indoor toy pavilions run with Japanese toy brands: Licca-chan dolls, Sylvanian Families, Tomica cars and Plarail trains, plus game rooms. That makes it one of the few outdoor parks around here that still works on a rainy day.
Outside are small rides and a large Ferris wheel that faces Mount Asama. The most physical part is Wakuwaku Dai-boken no Mori, a big adventure course built through a forest on lava ground from Asama, which older kids tend to like best. In summer the altitude keeps it cooler than the Kanto plain, and the 2026 season brought back the NHK Kids character event from April to early September.
The park is seasonal: in 2026 it runs from 17 April to 23 November and then closes for winter until mid-April, with some extra weekday closures in early summer. Adult admission is ¥1,300, and the free pass, which adds unlimited rides and the adventure forest, is ¥3,300. Parking is free. By bus, take the Seibu Kanko bus from Karuizawa Station toward Kusatsu to the Prince Land stop and walk about ten minutes.

Is Karuizawa Toy Kingdom actually in Karuizawa?
No. It is in Tsumagoi village in Gunma, north of Mount Asama, about an hour from Karuizawa Station by bus or car. Plan it as its own half-day or day trip rather than a stop between Karuizawa sights.
What age is Karuizawa Toy Kingdom best for?
Roughly ages two to ten. Under-twos get in free, the indoor toy pavilions suit preschoolers, and the forest adventure course keeps older primary-school children busy. Teenagers and adults on their own will find little to do.
