Junglia Okinawa
About This Destination
Junglia opened on 25 July 2025 on the old Orion Arashiyama golf course in the hills of northern Okinawa, with the Yanbaru forest as the backdrop. It was planned by Katana, the team of marketer Tsuyoshi Morioka, who is credited with turning Universal Studios Japan around. The idea is to use the real landscape rather than build castles.
The headline ride is Dinosaur Safari: a 17-minute drive in a 12-seat off-road vehicle through jungle stocked with animatronic dinosaurs, the largest a 19-metre Brachiosaurus. Horizon Balloon lifts a tethered gondola about 23 metres across above the forest, but it only flies when the wind allows and is often grounded. Yambaru Tornado, a large spinning ride, opened in April 2026. Spa Junglia is ticketed separately.
The first year drew complaints about waits of up to five hours for the safari on busy days, little shade and few places to sit, and the park has since trimmed hours and added cheaper tickets. Go on a weekday, arrive early and treat the safari as the one ride you must do. Driving from Naha takes about 1 hour 30 minutes; the airport express bus takes about 2 hours 20 minutes.
