Hakodate

Hakodate is a charming port city at the southern tip of Hokkaido, celebrated for having one of the world's most spectacular night views from the summit of Mount Hakodate. The historic Motomachi district preserves Western-style buildings from when the port opened to foreign trade in 1859, giving the city a distinctive cosmopolitan atmosphere. The morning fish market draws crowds for fresh seafood, particularly the city's famous squid and the beloved kaisendon seafood rice bowls.
