How do I get to Chureito Pagoda?

Take the Fujikyu Railway to Shimo-Yoshida Station (about 10-15 minutes from Mt. Fuji Station on the Kawaguchiko side), then walk roughly 10-20 minutes including a climb of about 400 steps from Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine. From Tokyo, the Fuji Excursion limited express runs from Shinjuku to Shimo-Yoshida in about 1 hour 50 minutes for around 4,130 yen.

What is Chureito Pagoda famous for?

It is a five-story pagoda built in 1962 as a war memorial within Arakurayama Sengen Park. The popular photo spot combines the pagoda, Mt. Fuji, and about 650 cherry trees, which bloom in mid-April.

Is there an admission fee and when is the best time to visit?

Entry is free and the site is open 24 hours. Clear mornings give the best view of Mt. Fuji; cherry-blossom season in mid-April and the autumn foliage period draw large crowds.
