Awara Onsen

Awara Onsen has been welcoming visitors since 1883 and is the premier hot spring resort in Fukui Prefecture. The town features over 30 ryokan and hotels, each with its own unique hot spring source, meaning the water quality varies from inn to inn. The Awara Onsen Yutaka public bathhouse offers day-trippers a chance to sample the waters, and the charming Yukemuri Yokocho food stall village lets visitors enjoy local cuisine in a festive atmosphere. With the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Tsuruga, Awara Onsen has become more accessible than ever. The town makes an excellent base for exploring Tojinbo Cliffs and Maruoka Castle.
