About This Destination
Famous flower park featuring a 150-year-old Great Wisteria tree and spectacular seasonal illuminations, named among Japan's top three illumination spots.
Ashikaga Flower Park is a stunning 100,000-square-meter garden in Tochigi Prefecture, most famous for its spectacular wisteria displays. The centerpiece is a 150-year-old Great Wisteria tree, designated a Tochigi Prefecture natural treasure, whose sprawling canopy covers an area the size of 600 tatami mats. From mid-April to mid-May, over 350 wisteria trees bloom in cascading curtains of purple, white, pink, and yellow. The park features eight seasonal garden themes throughout the year, ensuring something is always in bloom. In winter, the park transforms into one of Japan's top three illumination events, with millions of LED lights creating breathtaking displays. A dedicated JR train station, Ashikaga Flower Park Station, is just a three-minute walk from the entrance.
