關於此目的地
One of Japan's oldest shrines, which has no main sanctuary because Mount Miwa behind it is worshipped as the deity.
Omiwa Shrine in Sakurai is considered one of the oldest shrines in Japan. It has no main sanctuary building; instead the mountain behind it, Mount Miwa, is itself worshipped as the body of the deity Omononushi. Worshippers pray toward the mountain through a distinctive triple torii gate set behind the worship hall, which are both designated Important Cultural Properties. The current worship hall was rebuilt in 1664 by the shogun Tokugawa Ietsuna. The shrine preserves an ancient form of nature worship and remains an active place of prayer.

取得路線常見問題
How do I get to Omiwa Shrine?
It is about a 5-minute walk from Miwa Station on the JR Manyo Mahoroba (Sakurai) Line.
Why does Omiwa Shrine have no main hall?
Mount Miwa behind the shrine is worshipped as the deity itself, so there is no separate main sanctuary; people pray toward the mountain through a triple torii gate.
