Sasebo

Sasebo is a port city in western Nagasaki Prefecture and the second-largest city in the prefecture. It grew around a naval harbour and remains home to Japanese and United States naval bases, which shaped its international, waterfront character. The city is the main gateway to the Kujukushima islands and to the Huis Ten Bosch theme park, and JR Sasebo Station is one of the westernmost stations on the JR network. Sasebo is closely associated with the Sasebo burger, a hamburger style influenced by the American presence and served at shops across the city. Visitors also come for the harbour views, the Yosakoi Sasebo festival and the arcade shopping streets near the station.
