Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reach Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba?

From Kawaguchiko Station take the Saiko sightseeing bus (Green Line) for about 40 minutes, roughly 710 yen one way. A two-day bus pass costs around 1,500 yen and is worth it if you stop at other Lake Saiko sights.

What can I see and do at Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba?

It is an open-air museum village of about 20 thatched kabuto-zukuri farmhouses, rebuilt on the site of a hamlet destroyed by a 1966 typhoon, sitting on Lake Saiko with Mt. Fuji behind. The houses hold craft workshops for washi paper, weaving and pottery, and you can rent a kimono or samurai armour for photos.

What are the admission fee and opening hours?

Admission is 500 yen. Hours are 9:00 to 17:00 from March to November and 9:30 to 16:30 in winter. Clear mornings give the best chance of an unclouded Mt. Fuji behind the thatched roofs.
