About This Destination

One of Japan's most famous landmarks, a reconstructed castle housing a museum about the unification of Japan.
Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks, playing a major role in the unification of Japan during the 16th century under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The current castle tower is a concrete reconstruction from 1931, housing a museum about the castle's history and Hideyoshi's life across eight floors, with an observation deck on the top floor offering panoramic views of Osaka. The castle sits within a large park surrounded by impressive stone walls and wide moats, making it a popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring and plum blossoms in February. JO-TERRACE OSAKA, a commercial facility at the park entrance, offers restaurants and cafes. The Nishinomaru Garden provides excellent photo opportunities of the castle tower framed by cherry trees.
