How do I get to Osaka Castle?
Take the JR Loop Line to Osakajokoen Station (the park entrance is a 1-minute walk). Alternatively, use the Tanimachi Line to Tanimachi 4-chome Station. The walk from the station to the castle tower takes about 15 minutes through the park.
How much does it cost to enter Osaka Castle?
The castle tower museum costs 600 yen for adults. The park grounds are free to explore. The Nishinomaru Garden is an additional 200 yen and is especially worth it during cherry blossom season.
When is the best time to visit Osaka Castle?
Cherry blossom season (late March to early April) is spectacular, with over 3,000 trees blooming around the castle. Plum blossoms in late February are also beautiful. Early mornings are less crowded year-round.
What's inside the castle tower museum?
Eight floors covering Toyotomi Hideyoshi's life (the warlord who built the original castle in 1583), the 1614–15 sieges that destroyed it, and Osaka's role in unifying Japan. Highlights: golden screens, samurai armor, a mini-theatre showing the battle of Osaka, and a top-floor (8F) observation deck with sweeping city views. Open 9:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30); extended in cherry blossom and August festival season. Audio guide ¥200, available in English, Chinese, Korean, French.
