Gero Onsen

Gero Onsen is considered one of Japan's three finest hot springs alongside Kusatsu and Arima, blessed with silky smooth alkaline waters said to make skin beautifully soft. The compact hot spring town along the Hida River features dozens of ryokan ranging from grand traditional inns to modest family establishments, all drawing from the same legendary source. A free public footbath and several shared bathhouses allow visitors to sample the waters while exploring the charming streets.
