How do I get to Fukuroda Falls?

From Mito, take the JR Suigun Line to Fukuroda Station, a ride of about 70 minutes. From the station it is roughly a 10-minute bus ride plus a 10-minute walk to the falls.

What is Fukuroda Falls known for?

The waterfall is 120 m high and 73 m wide, dropping in four stages, which gives it the nickname Yodo (four-stage) falls. It partly freezes in midwinter and is surrounded by autumn foliage in early to mid-November.

The viewing tunnel has two observation decks and costs ¥300 to enter. It is open roughly 8:00 to 18:00 from May to October and 9:00 to 17:00 in winter.
