About This Destination
Vast lavender fields creating a purple carpet against Hokkaido's rolling hills, with peak bloom in July.
Farm Tomita is the most famous flower farm in Furano, a region in central Hokkaido renowned for its colorful flower fields. Founded in 1903, the farm gained fame for its lavender cultivation and now attracts over one million visitors annually. The lavender blooms from late June through late July, creating stunning purple carpets across the hillsides. Beyond lavender, the farm cultivates poppies, marigolds, salvia, and other flowers that create rainbow-like stripes of color from May through October. Admission and parking are free. The farm includes a dried flower shop, a perfume factory, a gallery, and multiple cafes. The seasonal Lavender Farm Station on the JR Furano Line operates in summer months only, just a seven-minute walk from the farm.
