Cape Sada

Cape Sada is the tip of the Sadamisaki Peninsula, a long, narrow strip of land that extends west from Ikata and forms the westernmost point of Shikoku. A white lighthouse first lit in 1918 stands on the cliffs above the Bungo Channel, which separates Shikoku from Kyushu. Reaching the lighthouse requires a walk of about 20 minutes from the parking area along a coastal path with sea views on both sides. On clear days the coast of Kyushu is visible across the water. The peninsula is reached by road; the drive from the Ozu interchange on the Matsuyama Expressway takes roughly two hours. The surrounding area includes walking trails and viewpoints along the ridge.
