About This Destination

An open karst plateau of grassland and pale limestone above Akiyoshido Cave, with viewpoints and walking routes.

Akiyoshidai is the surface landscape above the Akiyoshido cave system. Pale limestone outcrops break through open grassland, with short walks near the observation area and longer routes across the plateau. Treat the cave and plateau as separate stops and allow time for the transfer uphill. The exposed paths offer little shade, so carry water and choose a route suited to the weather.
