Yokoyama Observatory sits on a hillside above Ago Bay in Shima, within Ise-Shima National Park. From a height of about 140 metres it looks out over the ria coastline of the bay, which is dotted with small islands and pearl-farming rafts. The site was renovated in 2018 and now has several viewing terraces and a cafe. Access to the observatory and its car parks is free. A short uphill walk of about 15 minutes leads from the nearest car park to the main terrace. The observatory is reached by taxi from Ugata Station.
