Porto Europa occupies part of Wakayama Marina City, a reclaimed island off the Kemi coast, and recreates the look of a southern-European port with pastel townscapes, a harbour and cobbled lanes. Wandering the streets is free, while rides such as a roller coaster, a ferris wheel and family attractions are paid individually or with a one-day passport. In the cooler months the town is draped in a large winter illumination, and the wider island also holds the Kuroshio Market, known for its tuna-cutting shows, hot-spring baths and a marina. It makes an easy half-day outing near Wakayama city, reachable by bus or car with a large car park on site.

### Do I have to pay to enter Porto Europa?

Entry to the town streets is free; you then pay for individual rides or buy a one-day passport (around 4,800 yen for adults) for unlimited attractions. Discounted set plans that add the Kuroshio Market and/or the Kishu Kuroshio Onsen to the passport are also sold. Parking is charged separately.

### What else is there at Wakayama Marina City?

Besides Porto Europa, the island has the Kuroshio Market with tuna-cutting shows and seafood, a hot-spring bathhouse (Kishu Kuroshio Onsen) and a marina, so it is easy to fill a day.
