The Otsuka Museum of Art opened in 1998 in Naruto Park and is one of Japan's largest exhibition spaces by floor area. Its collection consists of more than 1,000 ceramic-board reproductions of Western paintings, copied at full size onto durable fired panels. Works range from ancient murals and Renaissance frescoes to Impressionist and modern paintings, including a full-scale recreation of the Sistine Chapel ceiling and reconstructed chapel interiors. Because the reproductions are on ceramic, visitors may photograph and even touch many of them. A full viewing route covers about four kilometres across five floors. The museum is reached by bus from Naruto Station and sits close to the Naruto whirlpools and the Onaruto Bridge.
