Yoshiumi Ikiiki-kan is at the southern end of Oshima, the first island the Shimanami Kaido crosses from the Ehime side. The Kurushima-Kaikyo Bridge, a run of three suspension bridges, starts almost directly above the car park. Route 317 passes the station, and Oshima-minami IC is about a kilometer away.

Most people come for the seafood barbecue. You choose from the day’s catch, which changes with the season and may include turban shells and other shellfish, then grill it on a rented shichirin with a view of the strait. Seafood is priced at market rate, so the bill depends on what you pick. There is also a shop for Imabari produce, a food court and a restaurant.

The station sells tickets for the tidal-current sightseeing boat that leaves from the harbor a short walk away. The Kurushima Strait has some of the fastest currents in Japan, but sailings are limited in winter. Barbecue orders close in mid-afternoon and the operator often posts earlier cutoffs, so do not plan a late lunch here without checking.
