Senzakitchen opened on 20 April 2018 on the Senzaki waterfront in Nagato, overlooking Senzaki Bay and about 450 meters from JR Senzaki Station. The name is a pun: the city wanted a kitchen that gathers Senzaki's food in one place. It worked. By its fifth anniversary the station had counted about 4.35 million visitors.

The fish counter is the heart of it. Buy whatever looks good, fresh or dried, and carry it to the Grill House next door to cook over the coals yourself; it is indoors, so rain does not end the plan. If you would rather be served, more than ten food outlets share the site, including Senzakidon for local-fish rice bowls and Sengoku for sushi.

The Nagato Toy Museum on site is built around wooden toys made from local timber, which makes this a good stop with children. Senzaki is also the hometown of the poet Kaneko Misuzu, whose memorial hall stands near JR Senzaki Station, and Omijima sightseeing cruises leave from the harbor. Check cruise times separately, as sea conditions can cancel them.
