# Michi-no-Eki Niseko View Plaza

> Where Route 5 meets the Iwanai–Toya road in Niseko, local farmers sell their own vegetables beside a tourist office with Mount Yotei filling the view. A good first stop for the Niseko area and a regular high scorer in national roadside-station rankings.

Mount Yotei sits right in front of the car park, which is half the reason people stop here. The other half is the produce. The station's farm market started in 1997 with a handful of growers and is now stocked by dozens of Niseko farms, so what you find depends on the week: asparagus in early summer, melons later on.

There are two main buildings. The Information Plaza has the tourist desk and a shop with Niseko dairy products, cheese, sweets, local sake and wine. The Free Space building holds the farmers' market and a row of takeout counters where soft-serve made with local milk is the usual order. Food here means takeout, so plan elsewhere if you want a long sit-down lunch.

Summer weekends get busy, and the best vegetables go early. In winter the station is a handy break between the ski areas and Route 5, but the market and takeout counters close earlier than the Information Plaza, and the whole station shuts over the New Year holiday.
