# Michi-no-Eki Maizuru Port Toretore Center

> Maizuru Port Toretore Center turns a Route 175 stop into a seafood-market visit. Fish sellers can prepare selected purchases for eating on site, while seafood bowls, local fish cakes and a produce market give companions other ways to browse.

Seafood is the reason to stop at Maizuru Port Toretore Center, on Route 175 in the western part of the city. The indoor market brings fish sellers and places to eat together, so a shopping visit can readily become lunch. This is the Maizuru station in Kyoto Prefecture, distinct from the similarly named Toretore Market in Wakayama.

At participating stalls, you can choose seafood and have it prepared as grilled fish or sashimi to eat on site. Ask the seller what can be prepared and what it costs before ordering, since the catch and prices change. Other counters sell sushi and seafood bowls, while Maizuru kamaboko and chikuwa make a different kind of food souvenir. The Agri farmers’ market adds vegetables grown in Maizuru.

Plan around the market’s trading calendar rather than treating this as an always-open meal stop. Individual restaurants and shops can have different schedules. Drivers can reach the station via Routes 27 and 175 from Maizuru Nishi IC; sightseeing elsewhere in the city needs its own travel time.
