# Michi-no-Eki Kyoryu Keikoku Katsuyama

> Katsuyama’s roadside station, opened in 2020, is about ten minutes by car from the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. Kids head for the Fukuiraptor slide outside; adults tend to end up at the dinosaur goods shelves or the mizu-yokan soft serve counter.

Katsuyama has built its identity on dinosaurs, and this station leans into it. Outside stands a slide shaped like Fukuiraptor, a meat-eating dinosaur found in Fukui, along with dinosaur figures and a shallow splash pool that fills in summer. It is close to Katsuyama IC on the Chubu Jukan Expressway and about ten minutes by car from the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, so it works as a break before or after a museum day.

The shop stocks around 4,000 items: Katsuyama produce and processed foods, Fukui souvenirs, the station’s own products and plenty of dinosaur goods. The cafe-restaurant’s best-known order is the mizu-yokan soft serve, made with brown sugar and smooth red bean paste, a nod to Fukui’s habit of eating chilled mizu-yokan in winter. A Wakasa beef menchi-katsu burger is also on the menu. The old Raptor Burger has been discontinued.

The building is not open late. The shop runs roughly 9:00 to 17:00 and food stops by mid-afternoon; the station closes on the second and third Tuesdays. The operator posts each month’s hours, so check them before planning a meal here.
