# Michi-no-Eki Kii-Nagashima Manbo

> A Route 42 station named after the ocean sunfish. On weekends and holidays a stall outside grills sunfish and shark on skewers, and the shop stocks dried fish and other East Kishu foods.

- Prefecture: Mie
- Type: Michi no eki
- Address: Kihoku, Mie, Japan
- Hours note: The sunfish stall opens on weekends and holidays only. Shop and restaurant hours are listed differently by different sources; check the official notices before visiting.

Sunfish is the reason to stop. On weekends and holidays the Manbo stall outside the station grills skewers of ocean sunfish, along with shark skewers and fried moray eel. On weekdays the stall is shut, so time a visit for Saturday, Sunday or a holiday if you want to try it.

The building is easy to spot: a row of big green triangular roofs modeled on the shape of Owase cypress, a local timber. Inside are a restaurant and a shop with dried fish, mikan oranges and saury sushi from the East Kishu coast. A life-size sunfish model outside is the usual photo stop.

The station is inside Kumanonada Rinkai Park, where Route 42 meets Route 260, about 2 km from Kii-Nagashima IC on the Kisei Expressway. A lawn and pond give children space to run. Sources disagree on shop and restaurant hours, so check before a late arrival.
