# Michi-no-Eki Daisen Megumi-no-Sato

> A farm shop and cafe right off the Nawa interchange of the San'in Expressway, with Mount Daisen above the fields. The soft serve made with black tea grown in Daisen town is the thing most people stop for.

Michi-no-Eki Daisen Megumi-no-Sato sits in Nawa, on the coastal side of Daisen town, a minute or two from the Nawa interchange. Mount Daisen, the highest peak in the Chugoku region, fills the view on a clear day. Inside are a produce market with morning-picked vegetables from the surrounding farms, a shelf of local processed foods and souvenirs, and a staffed tourist information desk.

The cafe and lunch counter, Daisen Kyaraboku, cooks with local ingredients. Its soft serve comes in black tea, hojicha, milk and a tea-and-milk swirl. The tea is grown organically in Jingamae, a district of Daisen town, and the result tastes like a gentle milk tea. Lunch runs from 11:00 to 14:00, so plan around that if you want a meal rather than a snack.

This is a practical first or last stop for a day on Daisen's slopes or a drive between Yonago and Kurayoshi. The car park holds about 60 cars and 14 large vehicles. Hours shrink in winter, and the station closes on 31 December and 1 January.
