> Minamiashigara's first roadside station, opened in 2020 on Prefectural Road 78 about ten minutes from Oimatsuda IC. A farm market, Ashigara tea and local meat dishes make it a good stop before the hills where the Kintaro legend is set.

Kintaro, the strong red-faced boy of Japanese folk tales, is said to have grown up on the slopes of Mount Ashigara, and Minamiashigara has leaned on him for years. The town's first roadside station opened on 26 June 2020 on Prefectural Road 78, which runs from Gotemba in Shizuoka to Oi in Kanagawa. Kintaro turns up on plenty of the souvenirs.

The farm market carries vegetables and fruit from local growers, plus original products made with Ashigara beef and Ashigara tea. The restaurant, Furusato Gohan Shokudo, builds its menu around Ashigara tea and Kanagawa meat such as Soshu beef and Yamayuri pork. It is not a quiet place: the station holds anniversary fairs and seasonal sales, and it came second among Kanagawa michi-no-eki in an All About survey in 2025.

Drivers come off the Tomei Expressway at Oimatsuda IC and reach the station in about ten minutes. Without a car, it is roughly a 20-minute walk from Daiyuzan Station on the Izuhakone Railway. The market and the restaurant keep different hours, so a late arrival may find only the market open.
